Frequently Asked Questions

Are your services covered by my insurance?

Yes, most extended benefit plans include coverage for naturopathic medicine. It is best to check with your insurance provider so that you know exactly how much coverage you have.

What can I expect from my first appointment?

During your first appointment, we will spend 60 minutes together to review your current health concerns, health history and lifestyle factors (e.g. diet, sleep, stress, exercise). You will leave this appointment with a naturopathic care plan that addresses your personal health goals, and outlines the steps required to achieve them.

How often should I see you?

After our initial appointments, I usually ask patients to return for their first follow up appointment in about 4 weeks to check in on progress, troubleshoot obstacles or adjust treatment plans if necessary. For acupuncture treatments, patients usually get the most benefit if they come once very 1-2 weeks.

Can you order labs?

In Nova Scotia naturopathic doctors are unfortunately unable to order routine blood work that will be covered by MSI. I am able to order bloodwork through a private lab, but patients will be responsible for the cost of testing privately. Alternatively, I frequently communicate with patients' primary care providers in order to request or access the relevant blood work.

What about specialty labs?

Yes, I am able to order specialty lab testing such as food sensitivity and comprehensive hormone assessments.
